Make It and Bake IT

Posted on: August 3rd 2015

As school finished for summer, students from both SGS and local primary schools, settled to enjoying a wide range of activities on offer at the SGS 2015 Summer Schools.

The fantastic products made at the Make It and Bake IT workshops proved what skilled cooks the team of students were, who joined Mrs Branch and Mrs Booth, in an exhausting but rewarding three days of making and baking.

Students started the activities by making their own flavoured breads, then created chocolate and lemon slices that looked and tasted far better than Mr Kiplings! By Friday, students had become so skilled, their ginger and oat cookies put Hobnobs to shame!

Every day the students worked superbly as a team and developed their chopping and production techniques to create a delicious two – course lunch. In the afternoons, whilst Mrs Branch cleared the devastation they had made in the food technology area, students worked with Mrs Booth and Miss Hook to design and make ‘Block Buddies’. They also developed their skills using Adobe Illustrator to create keyrings and pendants, which were then made using the laser cutter.

A superb, but exhausting week was enjoyed by all those involved.
