In a joint project between Science and Design and Technology, Year 9 and 10 students were offered the opportunity to take part in a competition organised by the University of Manchester, called the 'Ultimate Car Challenge'. The students worked with ambassadors from the university to design and make a model car, based on their understanding of materials and creating a more environmentally friendly vehicle. After initial school heats, three of our Year 9 students, Danielle Watts, Jordan Cain and Thomas Bourne attended the finals of the Ultimate Car Challenge at the university on the 29th and 30th June 2015. After a number of tests, including speed, crush and corrosion the 'Illusion Motorsport' team came a respectable fifth out of 11 schools that took part.
