Music for Youth 2017Posted on: July 14th 2017
Sale Grammar School concert band took part in the annual regional Music for Youth Festival competition on 18th March. Twenty-eight students and staff departed at 8.30am on a two hour journey arriving at the Coton Centre in Tamworth with an hour to spare. Students were grateful of the opportunity to listen to a variety of ensembles such as; steel pans, choirs and concert bands providing them with healthy competition. The students marvellously performed Atlantic Overture by Thierry Deleruyelle and Encanto by Robert W. Smith. Feedback was provided by two Music for Youth Music mentors who expressed their delight at the fantastic approach students had taken to some very difficult rhythms and changes in metre and style. All students are excited to perform again in 2018.
