Visual Arts Extravaganza 2017

Posted on: August 3rd 2017

During the second week of the Summer Holidays 44 students joined us at Sale Grammar School to participate in the Visual Arts Extravaganza. Three artists worked with Mrs Booth to deliver the sessions. Lucy Harvey and Charlotte Branch; both past students of Sale Grammar School and Sana Hanif were the artists in residence. There were also three Year 10 students, Meygan Senior, Phoebe Cartright and Kathryn Brown and a sixth form student Becky Cockroft who assisted the staff during the week and gained experience working on Art and Design activities with younger students.

The participants had the opportunity to develop skills in a number of different Art and Design activities. They made a Found Objects journal, experimenting with a variety of drawing and painting methods and created a series of citrus prints and a textiles woven panel.

Everyone worked hard to ensure we all had a successful week and the finished products were fantastic. On the final afternoon, family and friends of the students were invited to an exhibition and prize giving. It was lovely to see so many visitors at the exhibition, and especially pleasing to see how proud the students were of their work and how interested they were in the techniques they had learned.

The feedback from parents, family members and students was very positive, and everyone had a great week. We look forward to seeing some of the new faces in September or at next year's Visual Arts Extravaganza.

Enjoy the rest of your Summer holidays. Mrs Booth
