About Us

WHAT DO WE DO?

The primary role of the SGS PTA is to raise money to help the School provide materials, resources and facilities for the benefit of everyone who uses the School. So far this academic year we have raised £4,800 for the School. Additionally, the PTA provides many opportunities for parents to meet and socialise with each other - either through participation in the various events we organise, or through attendance at meetings and active involvement in the planning and running of our fundraising activities.

We also support the School by serving refreshments at a number of concerts and open evenings. Money raised in the past has been used to refurbish the KS3 and KS4 quads, to purchase curtains for the main hall and to contribute to the newly installed climbing wall. We are currently working to raise money to enable the School to provide a new student service area away from the main entrance lobby.

HOW DO WE DO THIS?

The PTA organises a variety of activities during the course of the academic year, each of which raises valuable funds. Activities can vary from year to year, but regulars on the PTA calendar include:

Car Boot Sales (indoor and outdoor): These ever-popular and successful sales are held two or three times a year in the School car parks and halls. Keep your eyes open for details of the next event, and remember to come along and support your School. Or why not take a pitch yourself and sell on all your unwanted goods?

Family Quiz Nights: These are held for different year groups at various times during the academic year, and provide an opportunity for families to compete in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Drinks and both sweet and savoury snacks are available to buy to help each evening go with a swing.

Annual Raffle: A raffle is held every spring to boost the PTA fund. Prizes include sums of cash and goods and services donated by local businesses and parents.

Additionally, the PTA runs its own lottery - the SGS 1200 Club. Click here for full details and information on how to join.
