Preparing the garden

Eco Garden

Students across two different continents are working together to try and create their own eco garden on their school grounds.

One of our partner schools in South Africa, Bosmansdam High School, has worked hard to produce their own garden and has passed on their expertise to students at Sale Grammar.

Work on Sale Grammar's garden started recently with students trying hard to clear the soil for planting and sowing wild flowers.

In future weeks they will be working with some local primary school pupils, teaching them how grow their own sunflowers and working together to plant some more flowers to brighten up the Key Stage 3 quad.

Young scientists have worked on testing the soil with a number of different experiments aimed at allowing the team to establish the conditions in the area to inform us of the types of plants that might flourish on the site.

A final strand has consisted of a Media Team who have filmed progress and have started work on a blog to share their progress with students in South Africa.
