Hospital Christmas Concert 2011

It was music to the ears of patients when the Cantus Chamber Choir of Sale Grammar School spread a little Christmas cheer.

They dropped into the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and Manchester Royal Eye Hospital to perform for patients, staff and visitors on Thursday 8th December.

After successfully wooing the crowds last Christmas, Lime Arts, a charity which develops, co-ordinates and delivers a wide range of creative projects within our hospitals, invited the choir back for a repeat performance.

The school is also working with Lime on arts projects for the Hydrotherapy Unit at RMCH and the Paediatric Dental Unit at the University Dental Hospital of Manchester.

Director Brian Chapman said: "I am thrilled that the choir has returned for a second year. They were so good last year that we felt our Christmas programme would not be complete without them."

Choir Leader Daphne Sumbler said: "It was a pleasure to come and perform at both the Eye Hospital and the Children's Hospital. We have a very busy concert schedule, especially at this time of the year, but everyone enjoyed their visit."
