Dear Parent/Carer,
The History Department have organised visits to the Imperial War Museum in London on 1st and 15th July 2010 for Year 10 GCSE pupils. A date will be allocated to your child once final numbers are known. It is envisaged that the visit will provide invaluable experience of the First World War, the Vietnam War and preparation for controlled assessment on aspects of the Home Front in both world wars. We are hoping to arrange transport by train, but reservations cannot be made until three months before the visit and definite numbers are needed for a booking to be accepted. It is anticipated that we would travel from Manchester Piccadilly at approximately 7.00am, returning at approximately 9.00pm. If we are unable to arrange train travel we will travel by coach, leaving school at 5.00am and returning at approximately 10.30p.m. You will be notified of final arrangements once they are known.
Entry to the museum is free, but we are asking for a voluntary contribution of approximately £40.00 towards travel and insurance costs. Please see the back of this letter for details regarding voluntary contributions and other important information relating to school visits. We also need to inform you that should the costs of the visits not be met by voluntary contributions the trip may be cancelled.
Letters are in the Adobe PDF format. If you do not have the Adobe Acrobat PDF reader you can download it from here.
