Live Debate on Channel M

Sixth Form students Oliver Bristowe and Kieran O'Neal visited the studios of Channel 'M' in the centre of Manchester, on the day that David Cameron addressed the Conservative Party Conference in the city, to take part in a live political debate hosted by Andy Crane.

The guests on the debating panel included Labour MP for Blackley Graham Stringer, Liberal Democrat MP for Withington John Leech, the prospective Conservative candidate for Bolton West Susan Williams and Dr. Andrew Russel, a politics lecturer from the University of Manchester.

The studio audience was comprised of Mancunians from all walks of life, backgrounds and political interests.

Oliver grabbed the opportunity to quiz the panel about university tuition fees and the possibility of a graduate taxation proposal. Both Oliver and Kieran thoroughly enjoyed the debating session and returned to school a little wiser on local and national political issues.

The Managing Editor of Channel 'M' commented on how impressed he was with the amount of preparation our students had done prior to the debate and how aware they were of the topics being discussed.
