Pilsworth Education Centre

Dear Parent/Carer,

As part of the gifted and talented Sale Grammar School Eco Project 2010 we have arranged a trip to Pilsworth Environmental Education Centre operated including the gas power plant and landfill site. The aims of the visit will be to allow students to gain knowledge and understanding about our responsibilities concerning waste and the consequences of sending waste for landfill. We hope that students will develop an awareness of the importance of recycling that they will be able to utilise in their presentations.

During the day students will have the opportunity to visit a power plant to see where and how electricity is generated from landfill gas and will use computer programmes to view close range activity on the landfill site. There will also be activities that aim to raise awareness of how we can reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill and incineration.
