Project 2011
What are the Band Uniforms and Music Stand Pelmets for?
In 2010 the School's Big Band and Swing Band, run by Mr Lewis and Mr Taylor, created that ‘Special SGS Sound' at the first round of the Music for Youth Festival in the North-West Regional Heats. Despite their best efforts unfortunately they were not successful in winning through to the next round.
SGS PTA has raised £2,000 to fund this venture.
What is the Permanent Balcony in the Main Hall for?
A temporary balcony has been built in February for the School Production every year, to allow control of sound and lighting equipment during the show. Since this costs the school £250 each time, the school has decided to build a permanent balcony this February half term (2011).

The permanent balcony will provide a safe and secure permanent environment for audio-visual and stage lighting equipment all year round, meaning there will no longer be trailing wires in the Hall or expensive equipment left unattended.

The permanent balcony will also provide cupboards underneath for the storage of chairs, tables and musical equipment. This will help relieve pressure on the prefab room D1, currently a relatively insecure storage room which is outside the main school buildings.
Balcony is now completed

SGS PTA has raised £9,000 to fund this venture.

The PTA have now raised the required £11000 for the two ventures! A massive thank you to all parents, students and staff who have participated in fundraising events.
