Red Nose Day 2011

Red Nose Day is a day like no other when the whole country gets together to do something funny for money and change countless lives in the process and this was certainly the case this year at school.

Year 13 Economics students kicked off the fund raising with a 24 hour fast which seemed like an absolute eternity to those who took part.

On the 18th March, the school held a non uniform day where students wore a dash of red, fancy dress or wacky hairstyles.

The staff in the canteen baked up some delicious cakes and biscuits with a cherry nose on top of them and donated the money raised from the sale of them to the charity.

The highlight of the day was naturally the long awaited gunging. Several members of staff had volunteered themselves to take to the hot seat and they watched worriedly as the money started to be counted against their name but it was clear from the start that there were only two people in this race - Deputy Headteacher Mr. Wilson and Headteacher Mr. Smallwood.

The excitement built up as they both tied votes but finally Mr. Smallwood narrowly escaped as the orangey lumpy gunk came pouring down over Mr. Wilson (dressed as Indiana Jones). Thanks to all the staff who took part in making it such a fun day, especially Mr. Wilson for being such a good sport - thanks sir!
