SSAT Conference Performance

Following an invite by the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) to audition, fifteen of Sale Grammar Schools' Gifted and Talented Dancers from Years 8-13 have been selected to perform at a highly prestigious national conference in Birmingham later in the year.

The acclaimed SSAT National Conference is an annual showcase event which attracts hundreds of headteacher delegates and top speakers from the world of education and politics. It is the major education event each year.

Sale Grammar School dancers were competing with many other schools across the country for the privilege of performing in front of a distinguished audience during the two day event. The group performed 'Evolve' at the audition which was crafted by themselves and focused on the title 'Laughing in the Face of Adversity.'

'Evolve' embraces a range of dance styles including jazz, street and contemporary and is accompanied by music from former student Simon Stewart. An animated video created by Rory Cahill and Tom Biddulph, also former students at the school, runs throughout the piece. SSAT representatives were so impressed with the work, that pupils will perform their arrangement as the opening event to the second day of the Conference.

The students' achievements also attracted attention from local newspapers and the television news team at 'Channel M' who visited Sale Grammar School to record the students in action.
