Monday 13th July – Friday 17th July 2020
Each year our Year 10 students participate in a period of work experience which this academic year will be running from Monday 13th July to Friday 17th July 2020.
Work experience is when the student spends time in an adult working environment carrying out tasks and duties more or less as an employee, but with the emphasis on learning about the world of work. The placement will not necessarily reflect the eventual career choice of the student but should allow a broad experience of the world of work and an opportunity to practice key skills they have learned at school and develop their personality and the skills that employers are looking for in the workplace.
It is the student’s responsibility to find and arrange their own placement and we recommend that they make contact with the employer rather than the Parent/Carer. For some placements there is great demand and competition e.g. engineering, law, sports and leisure. The earlier the student applies, the more likely they are to secure a placement.
Students have now been issued with all the relevant booklets and information to bring home, including a Parent/Carer booklet. Full details for the students’, parents/carers and placement providers have been provided in the booklets.
If you have any questions after reading the literature please contact Mrs Witterick or Ms Blackwell in the School Office on 0161 973 3217 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
