EU Referendum

Posted on: April 25th 2016

Thursday 21st April saw Sale Grammar School hold a mock EU referendum. It followed two days of intense lunchtime debates and the result is conclusive. Students and staff have overwhelming voted for the UK to remain part of the UK with 920 ballots cast for 'in' versus 153 votes for 'out'. The vote was held in form time, so the turnout was high at 83%. Some sixth formers wonder if the Prime Minister will regret not giving the vote to 16 & 17 year olds if this is the way they would vote.

Obviously Sale Grammar is only a microcosm of the whole of the country so we'll have to wait and see if the real referendum goes the same way as ours!
