Visual Arts Extravaganza 2016

Posted on: September 9th 2016

During the second week of the Summer Holidays 50 enthusiastic students, keen to improve their creative skills, joined us at Sale Grammar School to participate in the Visual Arts Extravaganza. Miss Walsh and Mrs Booth teamed up with artists Lucy Harvey and Ellie Green, both past students of Sale Grammar School, to provide the young participants with an exciting range of creative experiences. The teachers were supported by a superb team of Year 10 and Year 12 students who provided fantastic help and support to the younger students – a big thankyou goes to Danielle, Tom and Andrew who helped to make the week so successful.

Throughout the week the young artists had the opportunity to develop skills through a number of different Art and Design activities. They made a felt picture and pencils, an ornate Egyptian inspired collar, a laser cut stacked box and had their initials laser cut into creative patterned card.

The staff and students worked hard to ensure a good time was had by all and the finished products were amazing. On the final afternoon, family and friends of the students were invited to an exhibition and prize giving. It was lovely to see so many visitors at the exhibition and especially pleasing to see how proud the students were of their work and to hear them explaining to their family how they had made the products.

The feedback from parents, family members and students was extremely positive, and everyone had a great week. We look forward to seeing some of the new faces in September or at next year's Visual Arts Extravaganza.
