Art Activity

We would like you to explore your creativity in COLOUR which is one of the formal elements of Art.  Along the way we hope you will learn a little more knowledge about the colour wheel.

Step 1

Look online at the Colour Wheel.  There’s a really helpful example on GCSE BBC Bitesize Art.

Step 2

Using the Colour Wheel for reference, create your own colour wheel using objects around your house.  Give yourself a theme.  Some examples are:  food, folded washing, hair accessories, flowers and leaves from the garden.

Step 3

Take a photo of your Colour Wheel from a birds eye view.  For a successful photograph, choose a plain background to place the objects onto such as black card or the kitchen table.  You will need to lean over the objects for a good birds eye view, so check that there are no shadows before pressing the button.

If you are interested in colour in Art, on the BBC Bitesize for Art weblink there is a really helpful video about colour, and even a test if you want to challenge yourself to remember the knowledge.

Have fun being creative with photography.  We look forward to seeing what you have created in September.
