Visual Arts Extravaganza 2018

Posted on: August 3rd 2018

During the second week of the Summer Holidays 45 students joined us at Sale Grammar School to participate in the Visual Arts Extravaganza. Three artists worked with Miss Sutcliffe to deliver the sessions. Charlotte Branch; a past student of Sale Grammar School, Joanna Allen and Nell Smith were the artists in residence. There were also four Year 10 students, Macy Proud, Emily Marshall, Gaby Lloyd and Imogen Bailey and a sixth form student Grace Page who assisted the staff during the week and gained experience working on Art and Design activities with younger students.

The participants had the opportunity to develop skills in a number of different Art and Design activities. They made a textiles inspired dream catcher, experimented with collage making and created animals through two different types of printing techniques.

Everyone worked hard to ensure we all had a successful week and the finished products were fantastic. On the final afternoon, family and friends of the students were invited to an exhibition and prize giving. It was lovely to see so many visitors at the exhibition, and especially pleasing to see how proud the students were of their work and how interested they were in the techniques they had learned.

The feedback from parents, family members and students was very positive, and everyone had a great week. We look forward to seeing some of the new faces in September or at next year's Visual Arts Extravaganza.

Enjoy the rest of your summer holidays. Miss Sutcliffe
