Making a contribution to the wider community

Beyond the Hall System, students at Sale Grammar School also engage with external agencies such as the National Citizenship Scheme, and through our extensive Student Leadership Programme our school community is alive with students giving up their time in their roles as Anti-Bullying Ambassadors, Pastoral Mentors, Academic and Subject Mentors. To be a Sale Grammar School student is to flourish in every aspect of school life; a key element of this is devoting time to support others within our school community. This important school value allows all students to help each other as we strive to Aspire, Act and Achieve.

All students in Year 12 engage in a wide ranging programme of volunteering within the local community, enabling students to learn a great deal about themselves whilst also giving back to others. The Sixth Form Community Enrichment Programme aims to provide students with the opportunity to extend and develop their skills beyond A-Level study and the usual classroom environment. In line with our school virtues, our Year 12 students work with members of both our school community and the wider community in Sale across a range of different projects; recently, this has included reading partnerships with local primary and secondary schools, leading Spanish after-school clubs for Key Stage 2 students and organising afternoon tea events for local residents living in residential homes and setting up a school re-fill shop. Year 12 students have also organised and run Hall Competitions in school for students in Years 7-11.
