Work Experience
YEAR 10 & 12 WORK EXPERIENCE: MONDAY 16TH JUNE - FRIDAY 20TH JUNE 2025
Each year our Year 10 and 12 students participate in a period of work experience which this academic year will be running from Monday 16th June to Friday 20th June 2025.
Work experience is time spent in a workplace learning about a job role, a company or career section. Students will undertake duties more or less as an employee would (whilst conforming to health and safety guidelines), with the emphasis on learning about the world of work. Students will be able to learn more about themselves, have the opportunity to practice key skills that they have learnt at school as well as gaining new skills.
The placement will not necessarily reflect the eventual career choice of the student, some students will not know what they want to do or may not be able to secure their perfect placement, but remember, any work experience is better than none. It might even lead to other, more suitable experience with the same organisation in the future. Students should try not to worry about where they could go to get work experience but focus instead on what they could learn or improve on.
It is the student’s responsibility to find and arrange their own placement and we recommend that they make contact with the employer rather than the Parent/Carer. For some placements there is great demand and competition e.g. engineering, law, sports and leisure. The earlier the student applies, the more likely they are to secure a placement.
