SGS Young Musicians

Posted on: November 15th 2019

The final of the annual Young Musician competition yet again showcased the enormous talent of Sale Grammar School students.  The standard of the 31 finalist performances was abolutely wonderful, and they had been selected after endless debates from a wonderful 93(!) musicians who had performed in the heats.

Each of the categories was well represented with students from Year 7 all the way up to Year 13 involved, performing a diverse programme of music from ragtime to musical theatre, Beyoncé to Rachmaninov.

Our visiting judges from Chetham’s School of Music, Xaverian College and The Kingsway School had to make the tough decisions from the confident and musical performances.

There were winners for each of the cateogries; and the overall Forsyth Young Musician of the Year was won by Emily Stewart who performed an enchanting and very mature version of Summertime by Gershwin.

Well done to all of the students who performed and also to those who won a prize.  We are so very, very proud of everyone who took part.  Well done!
