Travel Ambassadors

What are the main duties and responsibilities

Promote active travel such as walking, cycling and scooting as healthy, sustainable and enjoyable ways to travel to and from school.  

Be a positive role model by demonstrating safe and responsible travel behaviours.  

Encourage other students to consider active travel and share the benefits with friends and classmates.  

Help promote school travel initiatives, campaigns, challenges and events.  

Share ideas and feedback from pupils about how the school can make active travel easier, safer and more enjoyable.  

Help create promotional materials, such as posters, displays, newsletters, presentations or social media content where appropriate.  

Support travel surveys or activities designed to understand how students travel to school.  

Work with staff and other Travel Ambassadors to develop new ideas and activities.  

Help raise awareness of road safety and encourage considerate behaviour around the school and local community.

Confident communicator – able to speak to students and adults and share ideas.  

Friendly and approachable – someone other pupils feel comfortable talking to.  

Passionate about the environment, health or wellbeing – interested in making a positive difference.  

Creative – able to come up with fun ideas, campaigns and activities.  

Responsible and reliable – willing to complete tasks and support school activities.  

Team player – able to work well with other ambassadors, pupils and staff.  

Good listener – willing to hear other pupils' views and suggestions.  

Encouraging and inclusive – able to motivate others without making them feel pressured.
